Sivakumar "பி4த்தர் வாஸி" = "resident inside" meni lagaras... in this stanza, Nayaki swamin is hinting a deep Yoga practice: to go deep into your spine which is "chariot residing inside" and "still (your prana)" at the 6 chakras of the chariot. Interestingly, I feel, the reference to Arjuna and Krishna and "நித்த கர்ரேஸ்", "ஹிப்3போ3" in this stanza have all deeper meaning with Yoga sastra too, as Arjuna refers to Manipura chakra (at Navel) and Krishna refers to Agya (at Spiritual eye). Manipura chakra is the pivotal chakra which turns the outwardly flowing energy inside and upward. That's why Krishna chose Arjuna for Geetopadesa. In this symbolism, five Pandavas (Sahadeva, Nakula, Arjuna, Bheema, Yudhishtra) represent five chakras bottom up and Draupadi refer to Kundalini Shakti which goes through ("married to") all five chakars! D.I. Sivakumar Ji, very good interpretation of the passage based on Patanjali's Yoga Shastra. I am curious though. How does "nitthe karres" imply a Yogic connection? The comparison of the five lower chakras to Pandavas and Draupadi to the Kundalini shakti is very novel indeed. Is this rich symbolism from your Guruji Paramahamsa Yogananda?

Sivakumar I feel, there are two levels in this seeking: at initial level, yes, you should use all the capacity (gathering, reasoning, etc) what you have to the best of your ability to understand the basics of the religion and the paths. Only in this level, any university level program will help (It is a great effort for Hindu Studies at Berkeley!) but then the next level finding a proper Guru that is entirely faith-based (like finding one's life-partner). Ramesh Neelmegh Meaning: The Swamin harkens us to start studying our Shastras (Shrutis) before we become too old and frail. The words of the Shruti, the meaning properly unfolded by a Brahmanistha Guru can surely reveal the knowledge of your Self which will free you from the fear of death. This is because our Shrutis say that you are Brahman, not the Jiva which is bound by birth, growth, decay and death. The Swamin says that the element of Grace by Ranganatha (the immanent God) is also needed to attain the knowledge of the Self.
